| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Corinne Bailey Rae's new album, The Sea was co-produced by Bailey Rae with Steve Brown, and Steve Chrisanthou, who produced many of the songs on her debut album, which has sold four million copies worldwide. Bringing together a new band of musicians, Bailey Rae recorded the album mainly in Leeds and Manchester, England. Her voice, always an expressive and soulful instrument, resonates with a poignant and newfound depth on The Sea. Loss and grief are recurring themes yet a sense of beauty and wonder ultimately radiates from the album's dark corners.

Stunning and soothing March 9, 2010 M. G. Mathis At the first listen, I felt oddly let down...But then I started to read the lyrics...and now I'm addicted. I have listened to this album almost everyday for the past few weeks. Beautiful, haunting, varied, and substantial. A must-listen.
Talented songstress belts them out March 9, 2010 S. Bennett The new album from Corinne Bailey Rae is filled with the kind of evocative longing that only someone who has lost a beloved one can deliver. Her songs are at once sad and happy, if that is possible, and the entire CD is filled with listenable tracks. I love it!
Jus didn't like it. March 8, 2010 L. Crawford (Cali!!!) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Found it to be boring and typical...sounded like an album full of "unreleased rarites." Although I empathize wit her loss, I hope she doesn't continue on the path of mourning for her next project. I don't mind it being "dark", but the are many albums/songs with even darker subject matter (take Clapton's "Tears In Heaven" for example) that are classic.
You can hear the sadness March 4, 2010 A. Glick (So Cal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD was produced after the death of her husband. You can hear the sadness and longing in her voice. This was a healing process for the artist. It is a beautiful CD in the fact that the emotions are real and on the surface.
SOOOO disappointed! March 4, 2010 Raw Foodie (Dardenne Prairie, MO USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Man! I waited and waited for her to release a new CD, and I have to say I completely agree with what the other 1 and 2 star raters have said. Where is the sparkle??? I also have the issue with being unable to understand her words often and the volume changes. I can barely hear her voice at times....like there was a big production problem. When I play one of these songs after one off her 1st CD, it's like someone is muffling the sound. I'm so glad I didn't buy this but listened to a copy from our local library first. Let's hope third time is a charm with her next CD.
