The Loving Kind is Nanci Griffiths best album since 2001 Clock without Hands.
She sings about "Across America" about working people for working people but
i think the melodies is so strong this time so you dont have to be a politician to fall in love with them.I hope that Bruce Springsteen one day will
call her and recorded the track "Sing" and dedicated a cd to her because Nanci is fantastic in every track on this cd.The musicstyle is country with a touch of folkmusic and pop, but if i must choose 3 favourite tracks it will be "Up against the rain","Across America","Sing".

Nanci Griffith is one of those performers who hit or miss, but it's always interesting. The voice, that spectacular, unique instrument, is always compelling, even when the material leaves something to be desired.
On this disc, Griffith gets political, and it's awkward in patches, but overall this is a lovely work and fans will be glad to see her return to old form.

Nanci Griffith delivers (as always) with beautiful, heartfelt songs, impeccable arrangements and
a deep felt social and moral consciousness that marks her as one of the most powerful and influential voices of our generation. This is Nanci Griffith at the top of her game. It doesn't get any better than this. If I were to chose a "must have" Nanci Griffith record this would be the one to buy.

I FIRST DISCOVERED NANCI'S MUSIC WHEN SHE WAS WITH ROUNDER RECORDS AND SAW HER IN CONCERT AROUND THE TIME SHE HAD PUT OUT HER SECOND ALBUM WITH ROUNDER.I STILL REMEMBER MY SURPRIZE A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER WHEN I NOTED THAT A BACKROUND SIGNER THAT TOURED WITH HER WAS ON THE CHARTS WITH A HIT LYLE LOVIT,BUT I DIGRESS.EVERYTHING I LIKED ABOUT HER MUSIC IS NOW GONE IN FACT I COULD ONLY LISTEN TO HALF OF THE TRACKS ,WHEN I GOT TO THE SONG ABOUT THE AUTO WORKERS AND THE STUPID(YES WE CAN LYRIC)THAT WAS IT, I WILL PROBALLY NEVER LISTEN TO ANY OF HER STUFF OLD OR NEW AGAIN.IT MAKES ME SICK WHEN THESE STARS WHO HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO BE IN AMERICA AND HAVE THE CHANCE TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT THEY LOVE,THINK THAT THEY CAN TELL EVERYBODY ELSE WHAT TO THINK ABOUT POLITICS,LIFE STYLES ,ETC.WHEN I BUY MUSIC I DO NOT WANT TO BE PREACHED TOO.THIS IS JUST A SHAME IF I COULD I WOULD JUST SEND IT BACK AND LET THEM GIVE TO SOME BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL WHO WANTS TO GIVE HALF THEIR PAYCHECK TO PAY FOR SOMEONE TO SIT ON THEIR BUTT AND LET THE PEOPLE THAT WORK PAY FOR IT BOO HOO.
