Michael Jackson was still going for pop hits with 1991's Dangerous, but he also front-loaded the album with six straight Teddy Riley-assisted cuts. This half-hour swoop of tense, aggressive, often angular funk was Jackson's most interesting music since Thriller, and still sounds, well, invincible on this remastered edition. After that, the record's uneven, but there's nothing embarrassing about it, either. "Gone Too Soon," a non-Jackson composition about teen AIDS casualty Ryan White, is a quiet statement (particularly played next to the choir-laden "Heal the World," "Keep the Faith," and "Will You Be There") showing that the star doesn't always have to get showy. The sprightly "Black or White" is explicitly pro-interracial romance, an angle its video didn't go near, and the urgent "Give In to Me" is almost scary. Scary good, that is. --Rickey Wright

5 out of 5 stars Dangerously good   August 8, 2010

If Michael Jackson wasn't great before this album he was after making this. Like Thriller and Bad it's full of hits and brilliant songs. They all well written and up there with the best albums around, because there's no album fillers. Like all top class album's all songs could be singles, of which most off them are top 10 hits. It is different to his previous albums but is the change of direction his career needed and with that he ended up with another great album.

5 out of 5 stars Loving This Album   July 13, 2010

Musically mature collection; Michael got bigger and thought more creatively out of the box with each album. The operatic overture to "Will You Be There" is deeply moving. The familiar radio hits are fun, too: Black or White, Remember the Time, Heal the World, Dangerous, etc. I play this album in the car to and from work. Thoroughly enjoyable.

3 out of 5 stars Worth it   June 10, 2010

"Everyone's taking control of me seems that the world's got a role for me I'm so confused"

"They say I'm different, They don't understand but there's a bigger problem in demand... so there is really no time to be trippin' on me"

That is my question why were people so hung out on his obvious craziness where his music was more important. You think he was ego-maniac? Well let me tell you 80% of all musicians are too, they just don't have the power or guts to run around with their eccentricities, he was simply crazy enough to go for it.

People keep bringing up how he was accused of child molestation. My question is where you there to know? Yeah neither was I so we'll never know. But hey he was crazy so he must have done it right? He was never proven guilty and all cases where settled out of court. I don't know about you but if my son truly was molested I would even go to hell to get justice done, I don't care who he is or how much money they offer me. But seems all these parents needed was some cash to be happy.

I am going out of subject here, but it is only because I want to give you my whole perspective on the subject and i want to be as fair as possible. Now to the album review

It wasn't a masterpiece before he died and it isn't one now. But it is a good album nonetheless. It takes some getting accustomed to it because it has a characteristic 90s sound but by no means sounds as outdated as some Billy Joel albums now do. There are weaker tracks but they don't feel that much of a filler because his delivery is always good. If i was going to make my own mix I would be

1 Jam
2 Why You Wanna Trip on Me
3 In the Closet
5 Remember the Time
7 Heal the World
8 Black or White
9 Who Is It
11 Will You Be There
13 Gone Too Soon

4 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson at the peak of his career   April 15, 2010

Following Michael's two biggest albulms, Thriller and Bad, it would seem hard to produce something to live up to the fame of those two, but Dangerous does a pretty good job at breaking away from Michael Jackson's older stuff and turning his style more modern. I felt a few songs were rather uninteresting and broke too far away from the traditional Michael Jackson music, but other songs like Remember the Time and Heal the World made me realize why Michael was such an influential figure in the music industry. Overall a good albulm, especially at the dirt cheap price it can be bought at today, even if a few songs don't live up to Michaels higher standards, it has enough quality songs that make it worth purchasing. It also breaks into more variety than his other albulms and some songs include rap and rock elements.
